HILO-Test GmbH was founded in 1978 and already the following year, the first pulse generator was developed and sold. We are the largest and oldest German manufacturer of EMC devices with a very wide range of products.


The specific EMC requirements for automotive testing are constantly evolving, making test waveforms increasingly complex. As a manufacturer of EMC test simulators and through its participation in international standards bodies, Hilo-Test is well aware of the requirements of today and tomorrow in the automotive industry. Burst/EFTG Generators

Our test generators simulate fast transient glitches as they are defined in the standard IEC / EN 61000-4-4. The individual pulses generate a wideband RF spectrum up to 300 MHz due to the very short rise time (5ns)..

Surge/hybrides Generators

Surge pulses occur due to direct or indirect lightning strikes in a circuit or by switching transients caused by switching inductive loads or short circuits. This leads to currents or electromagnetic fields causing high voltage or current transients. Surge voltages and currents can reach several thousands of volts and thousands of amperes. Our following Surge generators simulate these disturbances for all the necessary level in accordance with IEC/EN 61000-4-5 et IEC/EN 60060 :

Power fail Generator

Voltage dips, short interruptions or voltage fluctuations in the public supply networks can affect electronic and electrical equipment to a large extent. The AC-tests for this are defined in IEC / EN 61000-4-11 and the DC test in the IEC / EN 61000-4-29. To test these phenomena you find the right equipment here.

Ringwave Generators

Ring wave or oscillatory wave are pulsed onset, damped oscillatory waves as it can be but triggered in low-, medium- and high-voltage systems in data networks as a noise voltage by switching operations, lightning strikes and insulation breakthroughs in cable runs. The Ringwave Immunity tests for electrical equipment are described in the basic EMC standards IEC 61000-4-10 / 12 / 18.


Telecommunication networks are exposed to particularly natural disasters such as lightning and its effects. Therefore all connected telecommunications systems require reliable protection. Our equipment for testing the electrical safety enable tests to all commonly standards (VDE, EN, IEC, etc.). The products impress with a variety of technical features: TFT display, Ethernet interface, automatic test sequence to a fully electronic generator for even faster and more accurate tests. Our safety testers can be used both stand-alone without a PC as well as integrate with existing system.


High Voltage Divider

The High voltage divider type HVT … RC possess from DC up to their cut-off frequencies in the MHz range uniformly excellent transmission characteristics. The voltage divider consists of a resistive branch, which is constructed of high-grade resistance, and a capacitive branch with series damping.


WSM alternating current measuring resistors have compared with traditional direct current shunt resistors with coaxial voltage tap significantly better high-frequency transmission characteristics. This resulted from a production engineering very complicated structural design of the active part.
ISM pulse current measuring resistors allow the metrological recording of the time curve fast current changes large amplitude in the nanosecond range. The ISM are designed for the pulse current measurement with broadband oscilloscopes

ESD Generators

ESD generators for 16 kV and 30 kV; ESD adapted to perform CEM tests of systems and equipment according to IEC/EN 61000-4-2 and ISO/TR 10605 standards. It can go beyond the standard limits, the higher test levels are adjusted. Depending on the equipment tested and the test settings, the two test methods that should be used are: air discharge (AIR) and contact discharge (CON).

Coupling/decoupling network (CDN)

Hilo-Test offers a wide variety of coupling/decoupling networks for single- or three-phase power supplies, as well as data/signal lines and telecommunications lines. In addition to the many standard versions, Hilo-Test also offers special options for higher voltages (e.g., 3 x 690 V CA or up to 1 kV CC), higher currents (up to 200 A and above) or Surge voltages of up to 12 kV. IEC 61000-4-4/5 standards are essentially valid.
